Something wonderful has just happened to MB&T. President and CEO Doug Chaffin has been named “Banker of the Year” by the Michigan Bankers Association and the Robert M. Perry School of Banking.
As Chairman of the Bank’s Board of Directors, I would like to say that we are very, very proud of Doug and we enthusiastically congratulate him. It’s Doug’s award, but it’s a very important moment for the Bank as well.
When we brought Doug on board eight years ago, we knew that we were hiring a man with a quality background in the banking field, but we also saw a person who was committed to being part of the community and to continuing our Bank’s noble tradition of serving our community.
This is one of the qualities I admire most about Doug.
Throughout his years at MB&T, Doug has immersed himself in the work of the Bank and its community involvement. Whatever the event, big or small, Doug has been there representing Monroe Bank and Trust in the most positive and personable way. He is a very visible link to and a dynamic force in the community, supporting causes and events of all sizes and purposes. All of this positive exposure has brought business and support for our Bank.
Doug is also a man of strong character, a trustworthy and respected business executive.
In recent years, he and his team have faced unprecedented challenges locally and nationally.
We are fortunate to have Doug’s leadership as he continues to steer MB&T through these difficult times.
I know I, and the Board, join an entire community in congratulating Doug for this distinguished honor and I would like to say, “Doug, thank you for your leadership, dedication, and exceptional example of good citizenship. We are proud that you are at the helm of our bank.”
